REAL Money Makes a REAL Difference

Children don’t have the same experiences with money that most of us did when we were their age.  Kristi Sollohub, kindergarten teacher at Elm Creek ES, provides opportunities for her students to experience money using real coins.  Kristi is part of the K-2 Math Collaborative created through a partnership between SWISD and PreK4SA Professional Learning Specialists. 

10 Apples Up on Top!

After reading Ten Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss, Mrs. Campos' First grade class took on the STEM challenge to build a bridge with school supplies that would support an apple. Working together, they created many amazing solutions! Mrs. Campos, first grade teacher at Clear Spring ES in Comal ISD has attended many Pre-K 4 SA professional learning sessions and looks for ways to provide STEM opportunities for her first graders so they can develop problem solving skills.
